Myth 5: You can’t report someone missing if they have been found once before.
Fact: Not every event surrounding a missing person is the same. REPORT SOMEONE MISSING NO MATTER WHAT HAS OCCURRED IN THE PAST.
A person may go missing on a number of occasions either due to a common condition such as dementia or for different reasons related to health on one occasion, accident or foul play on another occasion. In each instance, it is important to report the person missing as soon as possible to the police because each situation is unique. There is no limit to the number of times a person can be reported missing.
There is a group of cold case investigators who meet bi-annually in Saskatchewan. The Saskatchewan Association of Cold Case Investigators share information and knowledge between agencies.
