The Regina Police Service has requested a Saskatchewan Warrant for the arrest of a 26 year-old male alleged to have committed an assault on a 45 year-old male at an indoor soccer match on April 10, 2013.
Twenty-six year-old Khalfan BANZIMA, DOB: 1986-06-13, of Calgary, Alberta, is charged with Assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada. There is currently a warrant for his arrest (Saskatchewan-wide radius).
In the original incident: police were dispatched at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, to the Credit Union Eventplex at 1700 Elphinstone Street. The caller indicated a 45 year-old referee at a soccer match was struck unconscious by a player on one of the teams. Preliminary investigation indicated the victim was struck in the jaw, causing him to fall, unconscious, to the ground. The victim refused EMS. Other officers checked the locker room areas and common areas of the building looking for a male matching the description of the suspect. The suspect was not located that evening, but continued investigation led to the charge against 26 year-old Khalfan BANZIMA of Calgary, Alberta.
