The Regina Police Service has arrested and charged a 26 year-old male with numerous firearm related offences.
An investigation began after police were dispatched to an address on Orchard Cres. at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Saturday April 6, 2013 for what appeared to be several bullet holes in the side of a home on that street. The person that called police said, at about 11:30 p.m. the night before, April 5, 2013, noises that resembled gunshots were heard in the neighborhood however police were not made aware of the shooting until the next morning.
Patrol members along with members of the RPS Forensic Identification Unit found numerous bullet holes in the stucco and through the front window of a home on Orchard Cres. Evidence was gathered and the occupants of the house, who were home at the time of this shooting, were interviewed. The occupants of the home were not injured in this incident. The investigation led to the arrest of a 26 year-old male.
Twenty-six year old Matthew Steven MAYER, DOB: 1987-03-29, of Regina, is charged with the following;
Discharging a Firearm with Intent (244(1) C.C)
Possession of a Restricted Firearm without License (91(2) C.C.)
Possession of a Prohibited Device (91(2) C.C.)
Careless Storage of a Firearm X 3(86(1) C.C)
Tampering with Serial Number on Firearm (108(1)(b) C.C)
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm X 4 (91(1) C.C)
Possession of Stolen Property X 2 (355(b) C.C.)
Possession of Proceeds of Crime (355(b) C.C.)
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Marihuana (5(2) CDSA)
Matthew MAYER has been remanded in custody and will make his first court appearance in Provincial Court on Monday April 8, 2013 at 9:30 a.m.
The name of the victim(s) will not be released at this time.
