The Regina Police Service has arrested and charged a 35 year-old male in connection with the Regina’s third homicide of 2013.
The investigation began after police were dispatched to a house in the 400 block of Wascana Street at approximately 5:50 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2013 for a 9-1-1 call of a seriously-injured male. Police arrived and located an adult male in the house, who appeared to be deceased. EMS also attended and pronounced the male deceased. Patrol members searched and secured the residence and requested the Coroner, Major Crimes and Forensic Identification members to the scene. The death investigation, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, became a homicide case as the investigation progressed. As the result of investigation, police identified a suspect and arrested him without incident on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Further investigation led to a charge against this individual in connection with the murder of 42 year-old Gregory Earl FOX, DOB: 1970-06-15, of Regina.
Thirty-five year-old Melvin Joseph SEVERIGHT, DOB: 1978-03-01, of Regina, has been charged with Second Degree Murder [235(1) CC]. SEVERIGHT will make his first court appearance on this charge in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013.
