The Regina Police Service advises that the 50 year-old female victim of a collision involving a Regina Transit bus is now deceased. Police received word of the woman’s death earlier this week.
The collision occurred at about 5:22 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013 at a bus stop on 11th Avenue at Hamilton Street. The preliminary investigation indicates that a Regina Transit bus was travelling eastbound on 11th Avenue at Hamilton Street when, for reasons that are still under investigation, the bus struck a pole in the 1900 block of 11th Avenue. The pole was knocked over and struck a 50 year old female who was standing at the bus stop. The woman was transported to hospital with serious head injuries. The Transit Bus was operated by a 39 year old male Transit driver. There were four passengers on the bus; neither the driver nor the passengers sustained injuries.
The name of the victim will not be released by the Regina Police Service at this time. This collision is still under investigation.
