A 26 year-old Regina male is facing charges of Extortion as the result of police investigation into three allegations involving a man soliciting “models” for an online adult-only website.
The victims in this investigation are three adult females, two 19 year-olds and a 21 year-old. It is alleged that, in separate occurrences, the victims were befriended by a male through a social media site. The male presented himself to them as an agent looking for models for an online adult-only website. The male invited the female victims to supply various photos of themselves for use on the website. They did but, in each case, the females experienced a change of heart and decided not to pursue the arrangement further. Several months later, between October, 2012 and February 2013, the victims received text messages from an unknown male stating that he had in his possession compromising photos of them. The male went on to provide personal information he had about them, including where they lived and copies of the actual photos. He told them that if they didn’t provide more intimate photos or videos, he would send the ones he had to their families and friends. The victims did not comply with his demands and reported their concerns to the Regina Police Service.
Anyone who thinks they may have been a victim of this type of offence is encouraged to contact the Regina Police Service.
