Two males, ages 20 and 23, are facing robbery charges after a purse-snatching incident in the 1800 block of Saskatchewan Drive on Monday, March 18, 2013.
At about 3:50 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2013, police were dispatched to a business parking lot in the 1800 block of Saskatchewan Drive for a robbery. The caller indicated seeing a male grab a purse from a senior in the parking lot. The suspect then ran a short distance north on Broad Street before getting into a waiting vehicle. The victim, a 75 year-old woman, was pulled to the ground in a brief struggle with the suspect, but was not otherwise harmed in the incident. Another male chased the suspect through the parking lot, but was not able to catch him. The victim gave police a description of the suspect which, together with security video at that location, helped to add more detail to both the suspect and vehicle descriptions. On March 19, 2013, two males were arrested in connection with this robbery. Further investigation led to recovery of the purse and some of its contents and charges against the two individuals in custody.
The males charged are 20 year-old Dyllan Joseph Jacob WILLIAMSON, DOB: 1992-05-09 and 23 year-old Travis Darnel LONETHUNDER, DOB: 1990-03-01, both of Regina. Both men are charged with Robbery [343(b) CC]. WILLIAMSON and LONETHUNDER made their first court appearances on the charge in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2013.
