Two men from Ontario, ages 44 and 26, are facing numerous drug-related charges following a vehicle stop that led to a search warrant carried out at an apartment residence in Regina. The vehicle stop and search yielded just over 144 grams of cocaine, drug packaging paraphernalia and approximately $7,500 cash.
This investigation came about as the result of ongoing investigation into illegal narcotics trafficking in the city of Regina by the Regina Integrated Drug Unit, which is made up of members of the Regina Police Service and Royal Canadian Mounted Police. On Thursday, March 7, 2013, members of the RIDU conducted surveillance on a rented truck, which was seen making several stops around neighbourhoods in the city. In each of these stops there were brief interactions and exchanges, suspected to be drug deals, between the two male occupants of the truck and residents. At approximately 4:47 p.m., on Thursday, March 7, 2013, police stopped the truck in a traffic stop at Albert Street and College Avenue. The two male suspects in the vehicle were arrested and police seized baggies of a substance, believed to be cocaine. (The substance was subsequently tested and confirmed to be cocaine.) This arrest led to police obtaining a search warrant for an apartment residence in the 1300 block of Retallack Street. That search yielded over 100 grams of cocaine, drug packaging paraphernalia, a large quantity of cash and tools and paraphernalia used in the production of crack cocaine.
Charged in connection with this case are: 44 year-old Robert Benjamin JONES, DOB: 1968-11-02, of London, Ontario and 26 year-old Patrick PINNOCK, DOB: 1986-06-03 of Brampton, Ontario. Both men are charged with Trafficking Cocaine [5(1) CDSA]; Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine [5(2) CDSA]; Proceeds of Crime over $5,000 [355(a) CC]; Possession of Cannabis [4(5) CDSA]; and Production of Controlled Substance (crack cocaine) [7(1) CDSA]. Both men made their initial court appearance in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013.
