There were no injuries resulting from a motor vehicle collision on Arcola Avenue this morning, but a building was damaged and the driver of the vehicle was charged under the Traffic Safety Act.
At 9:08 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, the Regina Police Service received word of a collision between a vehicle and a building in the 900 block of Arcola Avenue. Preliminary investigation indicates the driver, a 55 year-old female, was proceeding westbound on Arcola Avenue when she lost control of the vehicle, a Mercury Sable. The car accelerated over the sidewalk and a concrete frame and struck the front of the business. Fortunately, neither the driver of the vehicle, nor the occupants of the building were injured. Members of Regina Fire and Protective Services had to dismantle part of the damaged building, fearing that it would collapse and cause injury to anyone nearby.
The driver of the vehicle was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for driving at a speed greater than is reasonably safe.
