The Regina Police Service is continuing its investigation into a fatal collision that occurred just before 12:37 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20. 2013, at the intersection of Park Street and Arcola Avenue. This collision resulted in the death of a 67 year-old male. Two male suspects are in custody.
Police received a call of the collision at 12:37 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. The preliminary investigation indicates there were four vehicles involved in the collision; the primary impact was between a grey Dodge Ram Truck and a white Ford Ranger. The investigation indicates the Ford Ranger was north-bound on Park Street, entering the intersection on a green light, when it was struck on the driver’s side by the Dodge truck, which was eastbound. Police believe the Dodge truck was travelling at a high rate of speed. Police also believe the Dodge truck was a stolen vehicle. The collision sent the Ford Ranger into two west-facing vehicles, which were stopped for the red light on Arcola Avenue. The Dodge truck carried on through the intersection and came to rest in the westbound lanes of Arcola Avenue. The two male occupants of the Dodge truck fled the scene on foot. Two male suspects were apprehended by police, in the area, a short time later. An earlier indication of a third suspect is not supported by the investigation. If there was a third occupant of the Dodge truck, that person was not in the vehicle (had exited) prior to the collision. The driver of the Ford Ranger was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity has been confirmed and notification of his family is underway. His name will not be released at this time. The occupants of the other two vehicles were treated by EMS at the scene for minor injuries.
The roadway is closed to traffic until the collision investigators have carried out their work there.
