A 24 year-old male from Kamsack, Saskatchewan faces a number of charges following investigation into the events that led up to, and included, a police-involved shooting.
Just after 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, two Regina Police Service officers were responding to a suspicious vehicle call in the east alley of the 700 block of McTavish Street. Though the events that led up to the shooting are still under investigation, it’s known that an officer with the Regina Police Service discharged his sidearm at the driver of an oncoming vehicle. The 24 year-old driver, who is facing charges, was wounded in the right leg and the officer sustained minor injuries acquired in a struggle to take the suspect into custody. A second officer present was not injured.
Charged in connection with this incident is 24 year-old Kendall Bradley BRYANT, DOB: 1988-04-26, of Kamsack, Saskatchewan. BRYANT is charged with Assaulting a Police Officer [270(1)(b) CC]; Assault with a Weapon (vehicle) [267(a) CC]; Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000 [354(1)(b) CC]; Breach of an Officer’s Undertaking [145(5.1) CC] and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine) [5(2) CDSA].. BRYANT will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. It is not known at this time whether the court appearance will be at 9:30 a.m. or 2:00 p.m.
