The Regina Police Service has taken a 45 year-old male into custody as the result of an Emergency Services Call, involving Crisis Negotiators and the Special Weapons and Tactics Team, at a house in the 4600 block McTavish Street.
The event began at about 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 as the result of investigation into recent armed robberies. Police went to the 4600 block of McTavish Street to speak with a possible suspect. The male refused and further investigation led to the belief that this individual had access to firearms so the Crisis Negotiators and Special Weapons and Tactics Teams were requested. Police patrol members established a safety perimeter in the area and, at 8:37 a.m., successfully negotiated a 45 year-old male out of the house. Members of SWAT are still at the scene, clearing the house, but it’s expected they will conclude that operation shortly. No one was injured in this incident.
Investigation is continuing. It is not known, at this time, what charges may result.
