The Regina Police Service has located and arrested a 26 year-old male who was the subject of a Warrant for Arrest on a charge of Escape Lawful Custody.
Twenty-six year-old Shawn Justin MERCER, DOB: 1986-08-17, made a court appearance on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, in the 1800 block of Smith Street. After court, at approximately 12:10 p.m., while being escorted by court security in the hallway, MERCER fled down the hall and outside the court building. A warrant for his arrest was issued that day and his description and photo released to the public. On January 3rd, RPS members investigating the file found a man matching the description of MERCER. Once identity was confirmed, MERCER was arrested without incident.
MERCER is charged with Escape Lawful Custody [145(1)(a) CC]. He made his first appearance in Provincial Court this morning at 9:30 a.m.
