The Regina Police Service has confirmed the identity of the deceased female, whose body was found in a house in the 1100 block of Cameron Street on Friday, December 14, 2012. The deceased woman is 30 year-old Tara Fawn CHARTRAND, of Regina. Tara CHARTRAND was the subject of a missing person’s investigation, not having been seen since September 16, 2012. The family of Tara CHARTRAND has been notified. Investigators have now also confirmed that this death is a homicide, making this Regina’s sixth homicide in 2012.
At approximately 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012, police were dispatched to a house in the 1100 block of Cameron Street for a report of a person who was deceased. Police arrived and located the body of a deceased person, but in the earliest hours of the investigation, were not able to confirm the gender or identity of the deceased. Police requested the Coroner and secured the scene and, in keeping with procedure in any unexplained death, requested Major Crimes and Forensic Identification investigators. Investigation, carried out in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, confirmed the identity of the deceased and concluded that her death is a homicide case.
This investigation is ongoing and police have identified a suspect, however; there have been no charges laid in this case at this time. More details will be released when they are available.
