A total of five people appeared in Provincial Court on Thursday, July 12, 2012, on a total of 28 drug-related charges as the result of a house search; executed by the Regina Integrated Drug Unit, or RIDU, which is a team made up of members from the Regina Police Service and Royal Canadian Mounted Police; and traffic stop by RPS Patrol.
On Wednesday, July 11, 2012, shortly after 6:00 p.m., RIDU members executed a CDSA search warrant on a residence at 3925-2nd Avenue. A significant quantity of drugs was seized, along with some cash and a 12-gauge shotgun. A 46 year-old female and a 55 year-old male, residents at that address, were arrested and subsequently charged. While police were executing the search warrant, a 45 year-old male came up to the front door and when police identified themselves, he relinquished a quantity of drugs and cash.
In the course of this investigation information was obtained that led police to carry out a traffic stop on a vehicle in a parking lot at a business in the 600 block of Albert Street. In that operation, two people were arrested without incident and a quantity of drugs (cocaine) and cash seized. The suspects, a 49 year-old female and a 57 year-old male, were subsequently charged.
The persons charged as a result of the search are as follows:
Forty-six year-old Marion Verna ELLSON, DOB: 1965-12-07, of Regina;
Fifty-five year-old Neil Stuart GOERTZEN, DOB: 1956-12-24, of Regina; and
Forty-five year-old Ron HODGSON, DOB: 1967-04-01, of Regina.
Both Marion ELLSON and Neil GOERTZEN are facing charges of: Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine) [5(2) CDSA]; Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (methylamphetamine) [5(2) CDSA]; Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (morphine) [5(2) CDSA]; Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (ketamine) [5(2) CDSA]; Possession of a Controlled Substance (oxycodone) [4(1) CDSA]; Possession of Cannabis [4(5) CDSA]; Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose [88 CC]; Careless Use of a Firearm [86(1) CC]; Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon [91(2) CC]; and Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000 [355(b) CC]. In addition ELLSON is charged with Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC]. GOERTZEN is also facing a charge of Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC].
Ron HODGSON is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine) [5(2) CDSA] and Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000 [355(b) CC].
The persons charged as a result of the traffic stop are:
Forty-nine year-old Charlene Mary BELLROSE, DOB: 1963-05-11, and 57 year-old Ronald George GREAVES, DOB 1955-06-26, both of Regina.
Both BELLROSE and GREAVES are charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine) [5(2) CDSA] and Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 [355.3 CC].
All of the accused made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2012.
