A 14 year-old male is facing eleven charges after investigation by the Regina Police Service into incidents of graffiti in the City’s North West in early June.
The incidents of graffiti occurred on June 5th, 6th and 7th, 2012, at properties on Dunsmore Crescent. In all, ten properties were tagged; one of them was spray painted on two occasions. Investigation into these incidents initially led to the identification of three suspects. Further investigation into the involvement of the suspects led to evidence supporting criminal charges against only one individual, who was arrested on June 12th and charged in connection with six incidents. That same individual was re-arrested on June 13th and charged in connection with five more cases of graffiti. Of the other two suspects: one was diverted to an Alternative Measures program; the other was given a verbal warning.
The 14 year-old male accused, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with eleven counts of Mischief Under $5,000 [430(4) CC]. At the time of his arrests, he was released on an officer’s recognizance. The accused made his first court appearance on these charges in Youth Court today, Monday, July 9, 2012.
