A 42 year-old male and a 44 year-old female, both of Regina, made first court appearances today on charges including Break and Enter and Possession of Stolen Property, as well as drug-related charges, all stemming from investigation into a June 30th Business Break and Enter.
On June 30, 2012, at about 5:33 a.m., police were dispatched to a sporting goods store in the 1400 block of McIntyre Street for a report of a Break and Enter. The preliminary investigation indicated unknown suspects had broken the glass of the main entrance doors to the business and, upon entry, removed a quantity of sports equipment and clothing. Investigators were able to obtain security video from the store that offered visual description of two suspects, a male and a female. On July 3, 2012, two plainclothes members of the Regina Police Service were in the 700 block of Athol Street for an unrelated matter, when they saw a vehicle, whose occupants matched the descriptions of the suspects in the June 30th Break and Enter. The vehicle was kept under observation under a patrol member was able to make the traffic stop in a parking lot in the 1500 block of Albert Street. A male exited the vehicle and refused to stop for police. He was chased into the 1400 block of Angus Street and taken into custody. Another police member stayed with the vehicle and arrested the female on suspicion that she was the other person involved in the Break and Enter. Further investigation, including the search of the residence of one suspect, yielded a quantity of drugs and about 1700-dollars’ worth of merchandise matching that stolen from the store in the June 30th B&E. The male was also found to be the subject of a Canada-wide warrant of arrest for Breach of Statutory Release. Both individuals were charged in connection with the Break and Enter and the drug offences.
