A 30 year-old Regina male is facing a number of charges, including Assault With a Weapon and Uttering Threats after an incident involving a machete at a residence in the 900 block of Robinson Street in Regina last night.
At approximately 11:46 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, police were dispatched to a weapons call in the 900 block of Robinson Street. Initial reports indicated there was a male outside a residence on that block armed with a machete. When police arrived the male had already left the scene in a vehicle. Preliminary investigation alleges the male had had a fight with his girlfriend a day earlier, on July 2, 2012, at her residence in the 4700 block Pasqua Street. It’s alleged the suspect went to the house of a relative in the 900 block Robinson Street next day (July 3, 2012) and uttered threats against two individuals and assaulted a 26 year-old male at that house with a machete. The male victim did not require medical treatment. The suspect was located by police at a third residence in the 3500 block of Green Moss Lane a short time later. He was taken into custody without incident and subsequently charged. The weapon was recovered by police.
Thirty year-old Daniel Anthony KWASNITZA, DOB: 1982-03-23, of Regina is charged with two charges of Assault With a Weapon [267(a)CC]; two charges of Uttering Threats [264.1(1) CC]; and a Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC]. KWASNITZA will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 4, 2012.
