Collision at 6th and Hamilton
Regina Police, Fire and EMS personnel all responded to a three-vehicle collision at 2:19 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at the intersection of 6th Avenue and Hamilton Street. Three persons were taken to hospital by EMS and one person was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates a purple Cirrus was south-bound on Hamilton Street when it entered the intersection at what is believed to be a high rate of speed and struck a white truck. The impact of the collision sent the truck in a SE direction into the North West corner of a parking lot, striking a Ford Explorer, which was reversing out of a parking stall. The driver of the Explorer did not require medical attention. The adult male driver of the white truck was treated at the scene and released. The three occupants of the Cirrus, two females and a male, initially fled the scene on foot but were apprehended a short distance away. All three were arrested without further incident, but have been taken to hospital by EMS for treatment of injuries. They remain under arrest while their medical needs are being met.
The investigation into this collision is continuing. Charges are anticipated. There are no other details for release at this time.
