Traffic is being diverted from the intersection of Arcola Avenue and College Avenue and a number of people have been taken to hospital after a three-vehicle collision this afternoon. The road closures are as follows: • On Arcola – which runs SE and NW – traffic going South East is being diverted onto 14th Avenue; traffic going North West is not permitted to turn West onto College Avenue; must proceed without turning; • On College Avenue – traffic going East is being diverted onto Abbott Road.
The collision occurred at about 12:25 p.m., when a Honda Prelude, going south-east on Arcola collided with a Chevrolet Impala, which was initially north-west on Arcola Avenue, turning left onto College Avenue. The Prelude was driven by a 17 year-old male; there were three passengers: a 16 year-old male, a 16 year-old female and a 15 year-old female. The two females were taken to hospital by EMS for treatment of injuries. The Impala was operated by a 77 year-old male, accompanied by a 72 year-old female passenger. Both were taken to hospital by EMS. There was a third vehicle which was struck after the initial impact. The 28 year-old female driver of that vehicle was treated at the scene and released. Police, EMS and Regina Fire and Protective Services personnel all responded to the scene. Police have collision reconstruction specialists at the intersection and will have the road closed to traffic for the next few hours.
The investigation into this collision is ongoing.
