A 43 year-old male, who is also a 10-year member of the Regina Police Service, is facing two alcohol-related charges following an incident in the early-morning hours of Sunday January 29, 2012. This notice is being issued in accordance with past practice of the Regina Police Service, consistent with the Service’s commitment to public accountability.
At approximately 2:28 a.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2012, police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Park Street for a report of a suspected impaired driver. Police responded and located a vehicle, driven by a 43 year-old male, who was taken into custody without incident. Investigation into this matter led to alcohol-related charges against the male. The accused is a ten-year member of the Regina Police Service (corporal). The officer was not on duty at the time of the incident.
Forty-three year-old Darryl G. BLAMPIED, DOB: 1968-11-20, ofReginais charged with Impaired Driving [253(1)(a)CC] and Exceed .08 [253(1)(b)CC]. BLAMPIED was released on an Appearance Notice and will make his first court appearance on these charges inProvincial Courton February 9, 2012. A news release in relation to the administrative decisions made by the Chief of Police will be released on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 before 12:00 pm.
