The Regina Police Service is continuing to investigate a collision last night (January 25th) near the intersection of Fleet Street andMcDonald Street that resulted in the death of a 43 year-oldRegina male.
At approximately 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, police were dispatched to McDonald Street, just west of Fleet Street, for a report of a vehicle/cyclist collision. Police and EMS attended and EMS confirmed a cyclist, later identified as a 43 year-old male, was deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates a truck was travelling westbound onMcDonald Street, just west of the Fleet Street intersection, when it collided with a cyclist who was also westbound on the same road. Police blocked vehicle traffic in order to collect roadway evidence and have also gathered statements from the driver of the truck and witnesses to the event. At this early stage, there are no further details to release with respect to the investigation.
The next-of-kin of the deceased person have been contacted and notified. At this time, the victim’s name is not being released by police. This investigation is ongoing.
