The Regina Police Service, with the help of trained volunteers with Search and Rescue Regina (SARR), conducted an area search today
in its efforts to locate 28 year-old Brandy Rene WESAQUATE, who has not had contact with family or friends since January 1, 2012. Teams of volunteers from Search and Rescue Regina went doo-to-door and block to block in the area around the 900 block of Rae Street, where WESAQUATE was last seen. The ten trained searchers, who worked from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., did not locate any significant evidence to indicate where Brandy WESAQUATE may be, but the effort is valuable in that it eliminates possible locations and allows searchers and investigators to focus elsewhere.
Investigators will assess the day’s efforts and plan the next steps in the investigation. This may include a search of a broader area, but it will take some time to co-ordinate the necessary resources and volunteers; the search will not resume in the morning.
The Regina Police Service thanks the media for their attention to today’s search and residents are encouraged to check their back yards and outbuildings for any sign that someone may have tried to find shelter from the cold.
Twenty-eight year-old Brandy Rene WESAQUATE, DOB: 1983-02-04, of Regina is described as Aboriginal, about 5’ 10” tall, weighing about 180 pounds, with blonde hair and brown eyes. WESAQUATE was last seen wearing faded blue jeans, a white Adidas full-zip hooded jacket with either black or navy stripes down the sleeves, and white “board-style” shoes. Anyone who has seen Brandy Rene WESAQUATE, or knows where she may be, is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 777-6500, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or (if applicable) contact the nearest detachment of the RCMP.
