The Regina Police Service is assisting the Office of the Chief Coroner, in a death investigation after the sudden death of a 17 year-old female on January 15, 2012. The death is non-suspicious in nature.
At approximately 12:22 a.m., on Sunday, January 15, 2012, police were dispatched to 200 Lakeshore Drive(Conexus Arts Centre) for a report of an injured person. Police and EMS arrived and located the body of a young female in the backstage area of the building. EMS confirmed the female deceased. The Coroner also attended the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates the female; later identified as a 17 year-old from Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan; was in the company of two males, ages 19 and 21, both from Regina. It’s believed the three attended a function at the Centre and then gained access to an area of the building not open to the public, climbing onto what was described as a catwalk above the main stage. Preliminary investigation indicates the victim fell from the catwalk. Police are assisting the Office of the Chief Coroner to clarify the circumstances around the victim’s death. The death is non-suspicious in nature.
The name of the victim will not be released. Immediate next-of-kin have been notified.
