Three young persons, two males and a female, have made their first court appearances in connection with an early morning robbery on December 13th in east Regina.
The incident began when police were dispatched at 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, for a report of a robbery. Preliminary investigation indicated a 19 year-old male had just parked his vehicle near his home in the 3200 block of Arens Roadwhen he was approached by two male suspects. At least one of the suspects was reported to have been carrying a knife. The suspects demanded the keys to the vehicle, a silver Grand Prix, and then left the area westbound, following a red Ford Focus, also believed to be involved. The Grand Prix was found, a short time later, abandoned in the 500 block of University Park Drive and a17 year-old male arrested nearby. The Ford Focus, with two occupants, fled the city eastbound. That vehicle was followed by police out of the city and then back into Regina. Investigation led police to a townhouse in the 2700 block of 15th Avenue where, approximately five hours later, the remaining suspects, a 14 year-old female and a 16 year-old male, emerged from the residence and were taken into custody without incident. Subsequent investigation led to charges against the three young persons arrested.
The three young persons cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. A 14 year-old female, a 16 year-old male and a 17 year-old male are charged with Robbery with an Offensive Weapon [343(d) CC] and Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000 [355(b) CC].
