The Regina Police Service Underwater Investigation and Recovery Team (UIRT), with the help of the
Wascana Centre Authority, is conducting dive training this week as part of the team’s regularly scheduled
skills and safety training. The dives will take place at Wascana Lake on Wednesday, December 7 and 8,
2011. This realistic training is essential to developing and maintaining safe working practices for the UIRT
and will improve the teams’ service capabilities for the citizens of Regina.
Members of the media who wish to report on this training are welcome to attend to Wascana Lake on
Thursday, December 8, 2011 at approximately 10:00 am for interviews with the UIRT Team Leader Cst.
Colin Magee.
The Regina Police Service reminds members of the public to exercise caution around any body of water in
the city. Ice conditions can change rapidly throughout the winter and spring, especially in the current mild
weather.
