The Regina Police Service is extending an invitation to members of the media to attend a demonstration of the Service’s newest technology in fingerprint identification.
The system is known as AFIS, or Automated Fingerprint Identification System, and is part of a western Canadian network which includes theCalgaryand Edmonton Police Services. Members of the media will have the opportunity to learn about the system and its enhanced capabilities and watch a real-time fingerprint search that shows the technology and operator in action.
Anyone wishing to attend the demonstration is asked be at Regina Police Service Headquarters at 1717 Osler Street by 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 24th. At that time, you will be escorted to the Forensic Identification Section for the demonstration and interviews.
