Two males, ages 16 and 20, are facing a total of twenty charges in connection with incidents of theft from auto overnight.
On Monday, November 14, 2011, at approximately 3:36 a.m., the Regina Police Service Communications Centre received a report from Empress Drive of a possible theft in progress. The caller indicated that a male was inside a family member’s vehicle on his driveway and another male was standing nearby. Police officers, including a canine unit, were dispatched to the scene and set up a perimeter in the area. The canine member established a track and soon located two males in the 1900 block of Arthur Street. The males were cooperative with police and taken into custody without incident. Investigation led to the discovery of thefts from four vehicles in the area. The two males were charged in connection with these incidents.
The 16 year-old male accused cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He is facing a total of eleven charges: four charges of Theft Under $5,000 [334(b) CC]; four charges of Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000 [355(b) CC]; two charges of Fail to Comply [137 YCJA]; and one charge of Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC]. The other accused is 20 year-old Jeremiah Theodore STONECHILD, DOB: 1991-08-15, ofRegina. STONECHILD is facing four charges of Theft Under $5,000 [334(b) CC]; four charges of Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000 [355(b) CC], in addition to one charge of Possession of House B&E Tools [351(1) CC]. STONECHILD will be inProvincial Courtat 2:00 p.m. (today) Monday, November 14, 2011. The 16 year-old will make his court appearance in Youth Court at 2:00 p.m. today.
