Two males are charged with Robbery with an Offensive Weapon after an incident outside a business in the 1800 block of Scarth Street on Saturday, September 17, 2011. At approximately 10:00 p.m., a 23-year-old male was approached by two males who had pulled out a knife and demanded money. Cash and personal property were taken from the victim. Two males, matching the suspect descriptions, were located nearby and all stolen property was recovered. Steven Sean HEPPER, DOB 1991/01/02, and a 16-year-old youth who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, both of Regina, were charged with Robbery [343(d) CC]. The two made their first court appearance at 9:30 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2011.
Earlier in the evening of September 17, a series of three robberies occurred involving bear spray. Preliminary investigation indicates that these three robberies are related, but do not appear to be connected to the robbery that occurred in the 1800 block of Scarth Street. At about 5:20 p.m., a group of 5-6 males, ages 14-16, approached a group of three 17-year-old boys near Elphinstone and 5th Avenue. The three male victims were sprayed with bear spray and had their bikes taken. At about 7:10 p.m., a 13-year-old male was riding his bike at 8th Avenue and Princess Street when he was approached by a group of males and threatened with bear spray. He also had his bike taken. At approximately 8:41 p.m., a 20-year-old male victim was working on his vehicle in the lane behind the 2100 block of Reynolds Street when he was approached by a group of males. They demanded money and attempted to spray the victim with bear spray before fleeing down the lane.
