Two males, ages 21 and 23, are facing a number of charges including Aggravated Assault, following an apparent stabbing on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at a business in the 2100 block of Grant Road.
At approximately 2:25 a.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2011, officers were dispatched to a bar in the 2100 block of Grant Road, for report of two injured persons. Preliminary investigation indicates the two were involved in an argument that deteriorated into a fight with three other males. When police and EMS arrived, they located a 23 year-old male and a 34-year-old male who were taken to hospital with apparent stab wounds. Three male suspects had fled the scene. At about the same time, police also received a complaint of a vehicle window being broken by a male matching the description of one of the male suspects. Police were able to locate one of the suspects, a 23 year-old male, not far from the scene. Further investigation led to the arrest of a second suspect, a 21 year-old male, at about 11:09 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2011 in a vehicle stop in the 200 block of Sangster Boulevard. The third male suspect has not been identified or located at this time. Police have not located the weapon or weapons used in this assault. Of the two victims, the 23 year-old sustained the more serious injuries; he remains in hospital at this time.
Twenty-three year-old Yunus Bakari ABDALLA, DOB: 1988-01-01, of Regina, is charged with Mischief Under $5,000 [430(1) CC], two charges of Aggravated Assault [268(1) CC]; two charges of Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC]; and Assault Police Officer [270(1)(a) CC]. ABDALLA made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a. m. this morning, Monday, June 13, 2011.
Twenty-one year-old Maluak Joseph ATHEL, DOB: 1990 -01-01, of Regina, is charged with two charges of Aggravated Assault [268(1) CC]; and two charges of Breach of Recognizance [145(3) CC]. ATHEL will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2011.
