The Regina Police Service is continuing its investigation into an incident that occurred in the 2300 block of Dewdney Avenue at about 3:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, June 12, 2011. The incident, which included an altercation and vehicle/pedestrian collisions, sent five people to hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
Just after 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2011, police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Dewdney Avenue for a report of a fight, followed by reports of a vehicle striking a number of people before fleeing. Police and EMS located five male victims at the scene, all of whom were taken to hospital. Police obtained several witness statements as well as information about the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was located later Sunday morning and seized as part of the investigation. Preliminary investigation indicates a fight broke out between two groups outside a nightclub in the area. It’s believed that some participants in the altercation fled the scene in a vehicle, which struck at least four people. The victims of the collisions are all males ages 20-22. A fifth person, a 20 year-old male, received injuries consistent with a physical assault.
At this stage, there have been no arrests made and no charges laid. Police are continuing the investigation to identify everyone involved and determine the roles played by each of the participants.
