Members of the media are advised of a training scenario to be held tomorrow, Friday, June 10, 2011, at 760 Arcola Avenue. This scenario is the culmination of a week of training by members of the Special Weapons and Tactics Teams of the Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service and Prince Albert Police Service. One of the highlights of this specialized training has been the participation and instruction of two retired members of LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) SWAT.
Tomorrow’s scenario will be held between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at 760 Arcola Avenue. Much of the exercise will take place indoors; therefore, out of public view, but members of the public will notice a number of police and emergency services vehicles at that address. There are no schools in the area. There is no live ammunition used in the scenario.
Members of the media will have an opportunity to learn more about the training and interview participants and instructors at 10:00 a.m. Please contact Elizabeth Popowich at the numbers listed above to confirm interviews.
