Police are investigating an incident early this morning, Sunday, June 5, 2011, that resulted in injuries to two females. An 18 year old female is in hospital with injuries described as serious; a 17 year-old female has been treated for less-serious injuries and released. The incident occurred in the 1000 block of Rae Street.
At approximately 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2011, police were dispatched to a house in the 900 block of Retallack Street for a report of an injured female. Police and EMS attended and found a 17 year-old injured female who was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Moments later, patrol members in the area of 4th Avenue and Rae Street requested EMS for an injured female. This victim, an 18 year-old female, was taken to hospital with injuries that were described as life-threatening. The 18 year-old remains in hospital in critical condition. Preliminary investigation by police indicates both females were involved in the same incident, although at this early stage, it is not clear what roles they played. Investigation indicates both were involved in an altercation at a house in the 1000 block of Rae Street. The 18 year-old left the house and collapsed on the street in the 1000 block Rae St.; the 17 year-old made her way to the 900 block of Retallack Street, at which time police and EMS were called.
