Enhancing public safety is the goal of the Regina Police Service as Regina’s annual multicultural festival, Mosaic, gets underway for 2011. The Police Service will have officers assigned to “Mosaic duty” as pavilions open this evening at 5:00 p.m. and festivities continue until Saturday night, June 4, 2011.
Over the next few days, police officers will visit the various pavilions around the city to establish a positive presence, interact with the public and encourage compliance with the law. Uniformed members will be joined by plainclothes officers, authorities from Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming, and members of Regina Fire and Protective Services to ensure that there are no infractions of laws, including municipal bylaws and the fire code.
In the weeks leading up to Mosaic, members of the Cultural and Community Diversity Unit of the Regina Police Service met with organizers of Mosaic and its various pavilions. This positive relationship is the basis for the Police Service’s presence at Mosaic. The Regina Police Service encourages all who attend Mosaic to be respectful of others; make good choices for their own, and others’, safety and to enjoy this family-oriented celebration of the rich diversity of our city.
