The Regina Police Service is confirming the arrest of a male subject who escaped lawful custody early this morning (Wednesday, May 25, 2011).
The 24 year-old male had been charged in connection with an incident on May 23rd at a Regina nightclub on the 600 block of Victoria Avenue East in which an individual discharged a substance believed to be bearspray inside the establishment before fleeing. The male suspect was arrested the evening of May 24th and charged, but was taken to hospital for symptoms of a possible self-inflicted drug overdose. The male accused escaped from police custody in the hospital at about 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25th. The accused was re-arrested by police at about 4:20 p.m. this afternoon, Wednesday, May 25, 2011. He was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by police in the area of 5th Avenue North and McIntyre Street. The accused attempted to flee on foot but was safely taken into custody.
Twenty-four year-old Terrance Cory KAY, DOB: 1987-03-21, of Regina is charged with Common Nuisance [180(1)(a) CC] and two charges of Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC] in connection with the nightclub incident on May 23rd. KAY is also charged with Escape Lawful Custody [145(1)(a) CC] in connection with his escape from police custody at the hospital. KAY will make his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at the earliest opportunity.
