Four individuals, two males and two females, have been charged with Robbery after an incident early in the morning on Sunday, May 8, 2011, at a residence in the 1000 block of Retallack Street.
Preliminary investigation indicates the victim, a 33 year-old female, entered a residence, where a number of other people were gathered, at about 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2011. The victim indicates she tried to leave immediately but was followed from the house by two males and three females. It is alleged the two males and three females assaulted the 33 year-old victim, taking her purse and its contents as well as some clothing. The victim managed to escape and contacted police at about 7:20 a.m., while she was receiving emergency medical treatment for injuries consistent with a physical assault. After investigation, at approximately 2:37 p.m., police went to the address indicated by the victim, in the 1000 block of Retallack Street, and located and arrested four of the five suspects without incident. The fifth suspect, an unknown female, was not located.
Four persons are jointly charged with Robbery, contrary to section 344(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada. They are 27 year-old Shantell Debra Jane DESJARLAIS, DOB: 1984-02-29; 22 year-old Talisa Whitney MECAS, DOB: 1988-05-15; 27 year-old Kenneth Carl SEVERIGHT, DOB: 1983-12-05; and 32 year-old Wallace David Michael SEVERIGHT, DOB: 1979-02-02. In addition MECAS is charged with Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC] and Wallace SEVERIGHT is charged with Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC]. The four made their first appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2011. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
