The Regina Police Service has charged a 29 year-old woman in connection with the discovery of a deceased three year-old child, reported to police on May 3, 2011. The investigation into this death is ongoing.
On Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the Regina Police Service Communications Centre received a call with information of a possible deceased person in a vehicle in the yard of a residence in the 200 block of Halifax Street. Police, EMS and firefighters attended; police located a van and, inside it, the body of a male child. EMS confirmed the child to be deceased. At that point, police secured the scene and, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, began the investigation into the death. As a result of preliminary investigation into this death, police have arrested and charged a 29 year-old Regina female.
Twenty- nine year-old Anna Marie Rose WILKES, DOB: 1981-11-18 of Regina, is charged with Criminal Negligence Causing Death [220 CC]; Indignity to a Dead Body [182(b) CC] and Obstruct Justice [139(2) CC]. WILKES will make her first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. today, Thursday, May 5, 2011. There are no further details for release at this time.
