A sixteen year-old female is facing charges, including Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm, in connection with an incident last night (April 6, 2011) in the 900 block of Cameron Street.
At about 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, police were dispatched to a report of a collision with injuries. A vehicle had collided with a building at 901 Cameron Street, causing injury to the passenger of the vehicle and extensive damage to the building. When police arrived they found the passenger, a 21 year-old female, who was transported by EMS to hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening. The driver of the vehicle had fled the scene. Police determined that the vehicle had been stolen a short time earlier from a house in the area of 3rd Avenue and Elphinstone Street. Further investigation led to the arrest of a 16 year-old female at a house in the 1100 block of Athol Street. The female youth was subsequently charged in connection with this incident. The investigation is ongoing and charges against the other occupant of the vehicle are pending.
The 16 year-old cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. She is charged with Theft over $5,000 [334(a) CC]; Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000 [355(a) CC]; and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm [249(3) CC]. The 16 year-old female made her first appearance on these charges in Youth Court at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2011.
