The Regina Police Service is asking for information from the public that may help in solving a robbery that occurred at about 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, in east Regina.
This event was not reported to police until almost 24 hours after it happened. Police were dispatched on Wednesday, March 16th, to the residence of a young woman who reported having been robbed and assaulted the evening before. The victim, a 23 year-old Regina woman, told police she was on her way to her vehicle in the parking lot of a store in the 2000 block of Prince of Wales Drive when she noticed a white panel van parked beside her car. As she was putting her purchases into the trunk of her car, a male got out of the van and asked her for money. When she refused, the male forcibly pushed her head downward, hitting the trunk. She then described falling to the ground as three other males from the van struck and kicked her. It’s believed the first male took the victim’s purchases and some money. The victim was not able to give police any license plate information, but she did describe the first male as being Aboriginal, about 6’ tall, 23-25 years old, with a short beard, wearing jeans, a black hoodie and a black toque. She described two of the other males as Caucasian and the fourth as Aboriginal, indicating all were about 23-25 years old and dressed in a manner similar to the first suspect. The victim indicates none of the suspects are known to her. She said she didn’t report the event to police because she was fearful. The victim’s injuries are consistent with a physical assault.
