A 25 year-old Regina male has been charged following investigation into a collision that happened on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at the intersection Albert Street and Victoria Avenue. The collision resulted in injuries to the driver of a vehicle which was pushed into a building on the southwest corner of the intersection.
At about 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2011, police were dispatched for a report of a two-vehicle collision that had just occurred at the corner of Albert Street and Victoria Avenue. Preliminary investigation indicates a Ford Explorer, westbound on Victoria Avenue, disobeyed the traffic signal and struck a southbound, Ford F150 truck. The truck was propelled into the north side of a building at the SW corner of the intersection; the 46 year-old driver of the truck was removed from his vehicle by members of the Regina Fire Department, using the jaws of life, and taken to hospital by EMS. Police arrested a 25 year-old male, alleged to be the driver of the westbound Explorer. He was also taken to hospital for treatment of relatively minor injuries. It’s believed a second person in the Explorer exited the vehicle after the collision and ran westbound on Victoria Avenue.
Charged in connection with this case is 25 year-old Tristan Keenan PANIPEKEESICK, DOB: 1985-07-04, of Regina. He is charged with Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm [255(2) CC]. PANIPEKEESICK was released on an undertaking and will appear in court at a later date.
