The Regina Police Service is investigating a collision that occurred at about 2:25 p.m. today, Wednesday, October 27, 2010, in which an adult female was taken to hospital. The collision happened on 5th Avenue near Garnet Street. Preliminary investigation indicates an SUV, travelling eastbound on 5th Avenue, lost control and veered into the path of a west-bound city bus, carrying 20 passengers. The bus struck the passenger side of the SUV. The adult female driver of the vehicle was not seriously injured, but the passenger was taken to hospital by EMS for treatment. Police will divert traffic from the area until more is known about the condition of the injured passenger. None of the occupants of the bus were injured. At this time it is too early to know what charges, if any, may result. Police confirm that alcohol was not a factor in this collision.
In the 24 hour period from 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday October 26th to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27th, police have been dispatched to nine collisions with injuries. During the same period, police have received 25 reports of vehicle-damage-only collisions. Police remind all motorists to drive with caution now that we are dealing with winter road conditions.
