The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, is conducting a death investigation after the discovery, on Sunday, October 17th, of the body of a deceased male.
Police were called at approximately 9:44 a.m. on Sunday, October 17, 2010, to the area of McKinley Avenue and Elphinstone Street. The call came from employees of C-N Rail, who were aboard an engine travelling through the area. The employees stopped the engine when they saw a person lying beside the tracks, motionless. Police and EMS attended and confirmed an adult male deceased at the scene. The Coroner was called to the scene a short time later.
At this early stage in the investigation, police are working to determine the circumstances of this death. Police are preserving the scene of the discovery while other officers are conducting neighbourhood inquiries. Police have identified the deceased as a 51 year-old male and will contact and notify his next-of-kin. At this stage, this is considered a suspicious death unless investigation indicates otherwise. There are no other details for release at this time.
