Three Regina males, ages 17, 18 and 20, are facing a total of 26 charges in connection with numerous incidents in which parked cars were damaged. Police have concluded ten incidents that occurred in south and west Regina neighbourhoods on October 13, 2010.
On October 13, 2010, at approximately 1:15 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of the 3300 block of Parliament Avenue for a report of a vehicle travelling down the street damaging other, parked vehicles. When police arrived they found five vehicles with damage, mainly to side view mirrors. The vehicles were located in the 3300 block of 25th Avenue and the 3900 block of Montague Street. Officers did not find the suspects in an area check, but did obtain a suspect vehicle description. They also notified the owners of the damaged vehicles of what had occurred. At about 3:00 a.m., other officers were dispatched to the area of Dewdney Avenue and Kent Street for a report of similar activity involving a vehicle matching the earlier suspect vehicle. In five more cases, vehicles received similar damage while parked in the Rosemont and Dieppe neighbourhoods. Police arrested three males, two of whom were extremely intoxicated. Investigation led to charges against all three individuals. The vehicle was seized and a ticket was issued to the 17 year-old for Minor in Possession of Alcohol; the 18 year-old driver was issued a 30-day suspension for alcohol in the vehicle.
The 17 year-old has been charged with ten counts of Mischief Under $5,000 contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code. He is also charged with breaching a court ordered condition to keep the peace, contrary to section 137 of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He will be in Youth Court on November 8, 2010. The 18 year-old is charged with five counts of Mischief Under $5,000. The 20 year-old faces ten charges of Mischief Under $5,000. The two adults were released on Appearance Notices and will make their first court appearances on November 10, 2010. Meanwhile, investigation into these and other, similar incidents is continuing.
