The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, is conducting a death investigation after the discovery of the body of a deceased woman at a house in the 800 block of Argyle Street early this morning, Tuesday, October 12, 2010.
Police were dispatched initially to assist the Regina Fire Department which was engaged in fighting a fire at a house in the 800 block of Argyle Street. At about 12:20 a.m. police members were notified that the body of a deceased person was found inside the house. As the Fire Department began its investigation into the cause of the fire, the Coroner was called to the scene for the death investigation. It has been determined that the deceased person is an adult female but her identity has not yet been confirmed. At this stage in the investigation, it does not appear that this death is a suspicious one.
The Regina Police Service will continue to assist the Coroner’s Office in confirming identity, notifying next of kin and determining the circumstances of this person’s death. Police will also continue investigation into the cause of the fire with the Regina Fire Department.
