At approximately 6:41 pm on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, the Regina Police Service was dispatched to a vehicle pedestrian collision in the 7100 block of 1st Ave. North.
Preliminary investigation indicates that two children, aged 22 months and a 6 year-old, darted onto the street where they were struck by a minivan, driven by a 71 year-old female, which was heading westbound on 1st Avenue. Both boys were transported to hospital. The 22 month-old child passed away last night. The 6 year-old was treated and released.
No charges have been laid at this time. There are no other details for release at this time. Police, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances leading up to this death. No names will be released at this time.
