The Regina Police Service is investigating four robbery incidents that occurred at businesses in Regina last night (September 29th) and this morning (September 30th). Investigators have not yet established a connection between these robberies, but they are exploring the possibility that a connection exists between two or more of these events.
At about 8:41 p.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2010, police were dispatched to a business in the 4400 block of Albert Street after two male suspects, with their faces covered, entered the business, approached the employee and demanded money. The employee was physically assaulted and pushed to the floor, but not injured. The suspects fled with cash and product. The suspects were described only as male and approximately 5’ 6” tall.
At approximately 9:37 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, police were sent to a robbery of a business in the 1600 block of Park Street. Two males entered the store and demanded money. One of the suspects threatened the employee with a knife, but the suspects failed to get money or other items and fled. The two suspects were described as standing about 5’ 6” tall and both had their faces covered. A canine unit officer tracked the suspects but was injured when he sustained a cut to his shin from wire or some other sharp object. The injury required stitches; the officer was treated in hospital and released. A second canine officer responded but failed to locate the suspects.
At about 5:20 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2010, police were dispatched to a business in the 1800 block of Prince of Wales Drive. A single male suspect entered the business armed with what was described as a large, edged weapon. The employee got into a struggle with the suspect who grabbed some cash and fled. The female employee was not physically injured. The suspect is described as male, Caucasian, about 5’ 10”, with brown hair, about 20 years old and wearing dark clothing. It’s believed a second suspect was in a vehicle outside the business. Police have some partial information describing the vehicle as a blue SUV and are working to identify further leads.
At about 7:13 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2010, police were sent to the 2100 block of Pasqua Street for another commercial robbery. Two male suspects entered a store; both were armed with edged weapons and both had their faces covered. One suspect stole cash and the other took product from the store. One of the males is described as being about 5’ 6” tall with a thin build and short brown hair; the other was described as being about 5’ tall. The suspects left the area in a green van. Investigators have determined the van was stolen from the 2600 block of 6th Avenue North earlier this morning.
At this time, police are continuing to investigate each of these events and are exploring the possibility that any two or more are connected. The suspects have not been identified and there have been no arrests made.
