A 69 year-old Regina man is facing a single charge under the Traffic Safety Act at the conclusion of a police investigation into a collision that sent a four year-old boy to hospital on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, September 7, 2010, just after 3:10 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of 9th Avenue and Retallack Street for a report of a collision involving a van and a small boy on a bicycle. The victim, a 4 year-old boy was taken to hospital by EMS. Police investigation indicates the boy was crossing 9th Avenue from the south side of the street to the north side, when he was struck by a van, travelling west-bound on 9th Avenue. Through investigation, police determined that this was a low-speed collision and alcohol was not a factor. The victim sustained injuries from the collision and received treatment in hospital.
The driver of the van, a 69 year-old Regina man, has been charged under the Traffic Safety Act for Driving Without Due Care and Attention.
