A 22 year-old Regina male is facing a total of 18 charges in connection with seven robberies in Regina since 2008. This individual was arrested on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, as the result of an ongoing investigation into the robbery of a financial institution on August 26, 2010. Subsequent investigation led to police charging the suspect in connection with several, similar, unsolved robberies.
The dates, times and general locations of the related cases are as follows:
- On August 26, 2010, at about 2:27 p.m., at a financial institution in the 2900 block of 13th Avenue;
- On September 28, 2009, at about 4:26 p.m., at a business in the 2700 block of 13th Avenue;
- On May 12, 2009, at about 12:25 p.m., at a convenience store in the 3900 block of Gordon Road;
- On September 9, 2008, at approximately 2:57 p.m., at a convenience store in the 3900 block of Gordon Road;
- On June 17, 2008, at about 2:21 p.m., at a convenience store in the 3900 block of Gordon Road;
- On April 28, 2008, at about 6:05 p.m., at a convenience store in the 3900 block of Gordon Road;
- On April 24, 2008, at approximately 4:11 p.m., at a convenience store in the 3900 block of Gordon Road.
In each of these cases, the robbery was committed by a male with a knife. In four of these events, the suspect used material to cover his face. The convenience store robberies are all the same business location. None of the robberies resulted in injuries to the employees of the businesses involved. The arrest was made, without incident, after police executed a search warrant on a residence in the 2700 block of Regina Avenue on Wednesday, September 1, 2010.
Twenty-two year-old Alexander Jei ALLAN, DOB: 1988-06-16, of Regina is facing seven charges of Robbery, contrary to section 344(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada; seven charges of Assault With a Weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code; and four charges of Wearing a Disguise with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence, contrary to section 351 (2) of the Criminal Code. ALLAN will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon: Thursday, September 2, 2010. Investigation into the August 26, 2010, robbery is still ongoing.
