A 58 year-old Calgary male has been charged with willfully carrying out an indecent act in connection with a Regina Police Service investigation into a report of a suspicious male in Wascana Park on Monday, July 26, 2010.
At approximately 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 26, 2010, police were dispatched to Wascana Park for a report of an indecent act. Police interviewed a couple who had been kayaking on the lake near Willow Island. The couple indicated they saw a male on the east side of Willow Island near the parking lot. They reported the adult male appeared to be masturbating, while using binoculars to observe a male youth in another kayak. The boy was sitting in the kayak near the shore and there did not appear to be anyone else in the area. The couple shouted at the male and started to paddle towards shore, but they were unable to locate him or determine which direction he may have taken. On Wednesday, July 28, 2010, police received a similar report of a suspicious male. On Thursday, July 29, 2010, police investigation led to the arrest of a 58 year-old Calgary male and evidence gathered in connection with the July 26th incident led to the charge.
Fifty-eight year-old Randall Wayne RIEHL, DOB: 1951-10-21, of Calgary, Alberta, is charged with Indecent Act, contrary to section 173(1)(a) of the Criminal Code. RIEHL has been released by a Justice of the Peace and will make his first court appearance on this charge in Provincial Court on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 9:30 a.m.
