On Tuesday, May 4, 2010 the Regina Police Service received information that a male, wanted on warrants, and possibly armed was in the 800 block of Victoria Avenue. The Regina Police Service Specialty Teams, including Crisis Negotiators and Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT), arrived on scene at approximately 10:00 am. Also on scene were K9 and patrol members.
At approximately 12:00 pm, Crisis Negotiators made contact with the suspect in the room. Negotiations occurred throughout the afternoon. It was believed there were two individuals in the room, one male and one female. At approximately 5:45 pm, through negotiations, the Regina Police Service took into custody one male and one female. No one was injured and no firearms were recovered in this incident.
Charged in connection with this incident are 30 year-old Fredrick Lawrence WHITEHAT (DOB: 1980-04-15) and 21 year-old Nicolle Ashly NEIN (DOB: 1989-03-10). Both are charged with Break & Enter [348(1)(a) CC], Mischief Under $5000 [430(4) CC], Theft Under [334(b) CC], and Possession Under [355(b) CC]. In addition, NEIN is charged with Evade Police [249.0(1) CT] and WHITEHAT is charged with one other count of Possession Under [355(b) CC] and had a warrant for a Breach of Statutory Release. WHITEHAT and NEIN will make their first court appearance at 2:00 pm on May 5, 2010 in Provincial Court.
